 Letters to the Doorstep, 2018

This particular body of work was propelled my affinity with a forsaken doorstep that I frequented on    my daily commute. The glossy cobalt blue doors, and the unkempt terracotta tiles caught my eye, but    the day-to- day differences in its appearance are what really ignited my intrigue. It was almost as if it    were occupied, or even alive. It started to develop as a character in my mind and my everyday    encounters with it flourished into a relationship of sorts. What began as compulsion flourished into    obsession.

I decided to therefore personify and characterise the doorstep, I wrote letters of admiration to it,    depicting the intimate relationship that my imagination had blossomed throughout the months of    passing it.
